This has ALWAYS Been The Republican Party
Lies, Racism, Division, American Exceptionalism--Features, Not Bugs
This day of history—no president has ever been impeached twice—gives me the opening to dash off something I’ve been meaning to jot down for a very long time:
Stop this “Trump enablers” meme, or trying to make a distinction between the “Trump Republican Party” and the “Traditional Republican Party”, or giving cover to the Pence rehabilitation tour.
It’s false.
They aren’t simply enablers of Trump.
The whole lot of them (yes, including the media-revered bullshit McCain “centrists”, too) are an integral part of the entire political and ideological machine that stretches back decades, a machine that has prosecuted a class war against workers and imposed American Exceptionalism across the globe at great cost to tens of millions of people.
The Republican Party has always been the party of Trump—if by that one means a party that feeds on racism, division, class war and lies.
And the Democratic Party has too often played, at best, a supplicant role, and, at worse, a collaborative role—especially…
